Game Review - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Nintendo Wii

Written by Xelker on February 19, 2015 @ 9:15 pm

The Legend of Zelda series is an absolutely amazing game series, The games have wonderful characters, Settings, stories, music you name it Zelda has it. I have been a fan of the series for a very long time so when I heard there was gonna be a new Zelda game on the Wii I was excited. Sadly I was disappointed with this one. Skyward Sword is indeed a good game but compared to the other games in the series such as Ocarina of Time I found this one to be lacking. First of all I will start with the pros this game offers, It offers a great story, Graphics, Characters, music and settings. What it lacks to me is replay-ability. Skyward Sword unlike other games in the series is very linear and almost feels level based, you jump in an area say the forest and your stuck there no leaving to go to say the lake (unless you go back to the sky and fly there). It made me feel more secluded to one area unlike the other games which feel connected. Some of the environments are made up completely of puzzles (not in temples) which takes away from the immersion in my opinion. The inclusion of forcing you to play using nothing but motion was not a welcome change to me, I liked playing the games with a controller in my hand. Not saying the moment is bad but in my opinion its not preferred, this made many boss battles *Cough* Ghirahim *Cough* very frustrating for me. I think the option to say use the Gamecube controller or Classic controller would have been a nice option. All in all Skyward Sword is worth a play-through but it is nothing to special.

Skyward Sword gets a 7/10
