Game Review - Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II on PC

Written by HyperDebtRay on June 10, 2017 @ 11:28 pm

Similar to the previous game in the series Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition, I would give this a neutral rating and only a recommended rating if you can get the game at a discount price. The game takes place after the events of the first game and gets you to reunite with General Kota and Juno. Without spoiling too much, you play as the new and improved clone of StarKiller, twice as powerful and with two times the mayhem with two lightsabres. You are on a quest to reunite with the lovely Juno and exact your vengeance against the Dark Lord himself Darth Vader... again...

Compared to the first game, this game does a few things better and a few things much worse.

**Good**
+For starters the graphics is much improved and the overall gameplay is still tedious but not as tedious.
+The force upgrades are simplified and most of the lightsabre combos are unlocked at the start
+Lightsabre combo animations have been improved
+Dual wielding lightsabres is super badass, you can change their colors too! ????
+Character models are vastly improved
+They added a God of War-like Rage Ability for those dicey situations.
+Boss battles are much more well designed and thought out, I especially enjoyed the Gorog battle... very Shadow of the Colossus-like.

**Bad**
+The game is incredibly short my finish time is 4 hours, exactly half the time of my time in FU:1
+A lot of graphical glitches, more than FU:1, I had to estimate my jumps on invisible platforms on the Kamino cloning facility
+Still no quick recover when knocked down, additionally being stun-locked is still very annoying
+Locked at 30fps, tried using the 60fps patch but encountered more crashes
+Non-rendered cut-scenes causes my fps to shoot through the roof at 8000+ fps. This is annoying because at this fps level it causes my gpu to exhibit coil whine. Forcing V-Sync through my Radeon software doesn't work, the game ignores it.
+Even when locked at 30fps, the game still exhibits screen tearing, wtf? ????

Overall gameplay is great, but the sheer amount of technical issues that people will have to deal with will probably turn off a lot of people. I wouldn't pay full price for this game at most I would grab it at $5 or $7 dollars.
