Part action game, part psychological thriller, Alan Wake® is a pulse-pounding thrill ride. When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A dark presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Besides the game itself, which is divided up into six TV-like episodes, the game's story is continued by two special episodes that were made available as downloadable content within the same year of the game's release, titled "The Signal" and "The Writer". A number of related books and a six-episode live-action web series called Bright Falls also expand upon the Alan Wake story, and act as marketing material.

This game has one of the best stories made, even tho if the gameplay is repetitive, the story and soundtrack compensate big time that, and if you liked Max Payne you definitely will like this because the genius behind Max Payne, Sam Lake is behind this great game too.

I agree. This game is excellent and must be experienced. Sam Lake and the crew at Remedy took inspiration from shows like "Twin Peaks" and created a very interesting game. Very cool.
