Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors on Nintendo DS

Junpei, a fairly normal college student finds himself involved in a deadly conspiracy that he couldn't have possibly imagined. He awakes aboard an old passenger ferry, dazed and confused he stumbles around the room trying to reclaim his memories. First thing he noticed was a number roughly drawn on the cabin's door. A bright red number 5. Junpei's memory then returned and he remembered what happened right before becoming unconscious! A mysterious person with a gas mask crossed his mind. He remembered the haunting words he spoke, I'm gonna make you play the game, the Nonary Game' the game of life or death".

One of the best games I've ever player. Great story, amazing atmosphere and relatable characters makes for a game that captivates you and does not let go until you reach the end (one of a few available). Since it's not completely linear, the game has a high replay value. Well worth it.

I'm pretty disappointed with this game. Since it's a highly praised VN, I assumed the story would be solid, but the mysteries are easy to figure out, the characters receive little to no development and the endings are all pretty forced when compared to the flow of the overall story. On the other hand the plot is interesting before the endings, and there's funny dialogue every now and then. The puzzles are alright, too, although most of them are fairly straightforward.

One of the best storyline in a video game :('cause it's a VN xD ). Really liked it and got all the ending. Great atmosphere, characters and it's a game that makes you do some research on internet to know more about all the details and subtleties this story contains !!!!!. It got a sequel (Virtue Last Reward) but I don't have a 3DS 😞

The game is a bit disappointing. The writing is inconsistent - some parts are very tense, others are terrible: like jokes that just don't work, huge info dumps out of nowhere, ridiculous fiction story bits (parts about molecules) and a terrible axe ending. Characters are mostly bland too and the true ending doesn't really explain all that much. I played the game as part of Zero Escape: The Nonary Games on PC and it was a fun ride with easy yet enjoyable puzzles to rest a bit from all the reading. Navigating through the novel in the remastered version was made to be especially easy and fun, so in order to reach new routes and all endings, you don't need to replay any puzzle or to start the game from the very beginning several times. Voiced lines for the characters also is a fantastic addition. Still as it is not a very consistently interesting game, i hope that sequels can escape from the faults of 999 and give me something truly memorable.
