Dark Souls 3 draws inspiration from all of its predecessors by borrowing heavily from Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne and Demons Souls. I have played the first three of those game (never got farther than Father Gascogne), but I never played Demons Souls. The game has a lot of...Continue reading...

It's a step up from my first Dark Souls game (Dark Souls 2), but the bosses are as gimmicky and easy as a child's game.

Easily the best Dark Souls game. Not a single noticiable dip in quality like DaS1 has after Anor Londo and is not the abomination of terrible bosses, hitboxes and bad level design that is DaS2. Probably the easiest in the series, but it also has by far the best designed bosses (Blackfire Freire, Lothric/Lorain) as well as bosses with their own little twist or gimmick (Ancient Wyvern, Yhorm, Walnir) instead of the same boring HugeMcLarge guys that do 2-3 big swings and leave themselves open for you over and over again like the previous entries. Looking forward to the last DLC, but I doubt it will change my mind about the quality of this game.

dark souls 1 brought about some very important gameplay innovations, and was incredibly bold in its vision. part 3 is less uncompromising and focussed, but overall much more streamlined, accessible and generally satisfying. ds1 is untouchable in what it did at the time, but ds3 is the better-made game.
