As usual, here's my apology for the severe lack of updates on the site. I've been trying to get to the games being added to the database as often as I can. Being a Linux Systems Administrator by day means the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit in front of the computer some more, in fact, the only thing I want to do is play video games!
I've also been working on going through your suggestions and bug reports and adding them into my internal tracker so I know what needs to be done. At this time, I would love to get some help around MVGL. I think I have some various positions created, if you feel up to the task please go ahead and email me (jobs [at] myvideogamelist.com)! Here's the list of positions I've come up with.
Forums Moderator: This not only involves the forums being moderated but also reporting bugs and suggestions into our internal software tracker. You don't necessarily need to be technical. But you need to be able to copy and paste (difficult I know)! You also need to be available to check our forums at least 4-5 times a day and respond to users questions and remove, close any threads which do not belong on our forums. This is a relatively easy job. This is open to 1 or 2 people.
Site Moderators: This position is for people who can help us go through entries submitted to the games database. This task is mostly easy and only requires that you review the summary of the game and check all the fields to make sure they comply with the site submission guidelines. You will also be responsible for checking the reviews submitted by users to make sure they follow the site submission guidelines as well. You will also be responsible for checking to make sure users are following the site guide lines (commenting on game profiles, user profiles and any other user interactions). You can also be responsible for managing the games appearing on the home page and writing in our news blog when we have information to publish. This position is open to 2 to 3 people at the moment. Being proficient in tools like Photoshop, Pixelmator or a similar image editing/creation tool is a plus!
If anyone can think of any other positions I've missed please let me know. As mentioned, if you're interested in any of these positions please email me, let me know what prior experience you have, any references you can give and what you can bring to MVGL (jobs [at] myvideogamelist.com). Anything submitted simply asking for a position will be sent into the ole' recycling bin. At the moment I really need developers and people to assist with getting games added into the database. I've been extremely busy myself between moving and my normal day job, so extra hands will certainly help this site continue to grow and function properly! I know we're also sick of seeing the same darn games on the home page! I hope everyone is doing well and we all continue to enjoy this site!0 comments

I apologize for the lack of updates and how long it's taken to get all the new games you've all so kindly added into the database! I've been in India for the last month and a half or so. The way I coded the game approvals locked me out (oops, I made it to secure) so I wasn't able to access the tool while I was away. I am terribly sorry about this, but now all games should be added into the database. Thank you every for taking the time to add games and such!
Also, hello and welcome to all the newcomers! It's great to see new faces around here!
I have a lot of plans for the site and tons of code and fixes to work on so keep an eye out!
Anyone excited about the Wii-U? I just pre-ordered the deluxe version for myself the other day! I also picked up the new Nintendo 3DSXL and a copy of New Super Mario Bros 2 3D!! I also put in a pre-order for Call of Duty: Black Ops II for XBOX360!1 comment

Gamers, it's that time of the year that most of us get really excited about and look forward too! It's only been a couple days of E3, but I've seen a few games which look really interesting! Feel free to discuss the E3 happenings in our chat room or on the forums!
I also resolved a bug which prevented some users from adding new games to their lists. I apologize for the inconveniences caused by this.0 comments

Gamers! I've finally added the long awaited feature of allowing you to set your games into a replaying status. You can only 'replay' completed games (which makes sense to me), and you can set them back to completed once you finish replaying them. You can set a game as being in replay mode by viewing your list, and clicking the 'Replay' link from the last column under your Completed games. Once a game is in replay mode, you can finish replaying it by clicking on the 'Finish Replay' link in the new 'Currently Replaying' section on your games list!
As this is a brand new feature I wouldn't be surprised if some bugs crop up. Please go ahead and report any issues to the bugs forum.
I hope you all enjoy this new feature as it seems to be highly requested! Until next time, GAME ON!!0 comments

I've managed to track down and resolve the forums posting issue. In a nutshell, the new account ID that each account is assigned when you register wasn't also being added to the forums permission area, so while you could still login and manage your games and lists, the one permission needed to post on the forums wasn't there. This should be correct and the bug fix has been pushed out to the live website! Thanks for all that reported that! GAME ON!0 comments

My next plan of attack is to get 'Currently Replaying' as a status for your games since this seems to be the biggest request as of now. Basically I think what will be added is a check box that will allow you to simply ticket off if you're replaying the game. It will show the game in a new area on your list titled 'Replaying' as well as in your Completed section.
I hope everyone is well, and enjoying their games!0 comments

I'd like to apologize for being so absent and distant from the site for so long. I've been super busy with life. I got a new puppy who's been taking up most of my time, as well as I keeping occupied with my horseback riding and real work itself (ya know, the one that pays you), so I've had to toss this site on the back burner for a little while.
I hope everyone has had a pleasant holiday season, and now you're all ready to jump into 2012! What games have you all been playing this winter? What are you all looking forward too in 2012?
I've been working on some small bug fixes lately. The issue with removing games from your favorites and wish lists should now be fixed. I've updated the messages displayed to users trying to view other profiles which aren't activated or have been suspended. I did also hear about an issue where users cannot post in the forums. Please let me know if you're experiencing that issue, just drop a note on my profile.
Things I'd like to work on are adding more options to the games you're adding to your lists, such as if you're replaying the game, how we handle the dates you start or finish the game, more genres, and of course more games to our database. Please continue to submit your suggestions, I do apologize if I don't reply to them right away, but I do add them into my notes and such. All your ideas are great, and your help to add games into our database is most appreciated.
Thank you so much everyone for helping to build this site and community!0 comments

Hello Gamers! I've added a few new genres to the site so we can better categorize games. The genres are MMOs, MOBAs, Visual Novels and Adventure. If you see any games in the Action-Adventure genre and think it should be in the Adventure category just let us know on the support forums and we'll get it changed over. We've also made some small backend code changes here and there. We hope everyone had a great 4th of July and are having a nice summer!0 comments

I'll be posting the site around on some forums and other sites, so hopefully we can get a new influx of users. We've added probably 30-40 new games in the last 2 weeks as well, and we can always use your help to add new games to our database. We appreciate all the issue/bug reports so far, so keep it up!0 comments

Thank you everyone who is submitting games into the library. That's one the biggest things our site needs; a MUCH larger database of games for people to select from. I'm constantly working on the code, adding new features, fixing bugs and adding little tweaks. The biggest change in the last couple of days was that when adding games to your lists you shouldn't be required to input the start/finish dates on completed games, on-hold or dropped games. There's also been a few behind-the-scenes checking on how we handle who can view various pages on the site and how we redirect them if necessary.
We're almost ready to actually launch the site, advertise it in a few places. However before that happens we at least want to get a few more features built into the site, such as the chat, writing reviews, adding games to your wishlist, a feed for each user (instead of the global one we have now), finish the FAQs page, and allow users to remove comments from their profile pages.
Until then, we greatly appreciate your feedback and bug reports!0 comments
