This game is one of mixed reviews, and mainly poor ones from known critics. So hopefully I can do it justice.
As a big fan of the animated series as well as the manga 'hokuto no ken',
I truly believe Tecmo Koei have presented us with a game that truly represents the series for fans to incarnate several characters of the show, and without forgetting the violence that follows!
There are two different game options, the main story which follows the main plot of the show from the character selected and then there is also a Dream Mode which allows you to embark on a fictional scenario. The Dream mode also provides the player with a two player mode (I have never tried)
Each character has one of two different fighting styles; Nanto and Hokuto. The game gracefully depicts each fighting style. Some missions require you to protect civilians from hostile characters before a certain time as well as a mini boss earning you more defense or stronger attack for a certain amount of time. You can unlock different abilities and fighting signatures for each character to eradicate enemies more efficiently and more violently.
Some players, whom are not familiar with the series, will definitely struggle with the gameplay and see it was a very repetitive and the signature moves very long and boring.
Graphics are not exactly mind-blowing with indistinguishable levels however the characters themselves are well rendered and really brings the characters from the manga to life and I found it to be an absolute delight to see and play. In most of these style of games there is an option to select the language between English dubbing or the original Japanese. Most of the time, English dubbing tends to be horrendous in these sorts of games so I automatically change it to Japanese.
There 10 Playable characters including DLC characters, in the DLCs there are costumes for characters that bring you closer to the anime as well as extra missions, which if you enjoyed the games on its first run, all these would do is extent your pleasure. I would truly recommend it, but the price is not so appealing.
Trophies are fairly easy to achieve, no specific requirements, just your time.
