Game Review - The Witcher: Enhanced Edition on PC

Written by Stradivarius on May 22, 2016 @ 11:08 pm

The Witcher brand is very famous and it definitely deserves it. The books are awesome and the games are too. Well, from what I've heard. I just finished the first one because I didn't wanna skip and wanted to enjoy the story. It was definitely worth it.

This review is from 2015/2016 season

Pros:
- for how old the game is, the graphics are still good
- great story
- Prologue and Chapter 1 were great introduction
- Chapter 5 and Epilogue were definitely great ending
- Chapter 5 and Epilogue were definitely the best from the game
- very good music
- the cities and locations felt alive
- awesome atmosphere
- when you get used to the combat, it's fun
- you don't only use your swords but also magic
- you can wield the iconic swords through whole game, the gearing is mostly on the talents if you want
- good and many various enemies
- your choices matter
- good voice acting, actually hours and hours of it
- fun secondary quests

Cons:
- many, many same friendly NPC used over and over again just with different name and VO
- too much inivisible walls
- inventory system
- eventhough the HP recovery system brings different type of challenge, it became more of annoying then challenge
- Chapter 3 was just unbearable. Too long and not that interesting.
- you need to get used to the combat
- you don't gear much from gears, but since you wanna use the badass Witcher sword anyway, it's actually good thing
- sometimes you really need to have the right potions, otherwise you're dead and can't move
- many loading screens, but they were fast, so it was ok
- some of the quests were go here, go across two maps, oh and go back and go there again, which we hate big time

I could go even more to details what I liked and didn't like but I think you got the idea. It's really good game and for me the Chapter 5 and Epilogue went 8/10, but the full game is:

7/10
Good game!!

I enjoyed this. Can't wait to play the next ones.
