One day, Professor Oak asks you to try out a new device that is used to talk to Pokemon. The player soon meets a wild Pikachu and must befriend and earn Pikachu's trust. Eventually, Pikachu will come and live with you! You can choose one of three activities with Pikachu per day and earn Pika Points (game's currency) to unlock new items.

Hey You, Pikachu was never released outside of Japan and the US. The game was released on November 6, 2000 in the United States. HYP was one the only two games on the N64 to use voice recognition.
