Now forced to go on the run for a murder he didn't commit, he must attempt to solve the mystery of the Thirty-Nine Steps before it's too late. The game is largely played as a visual novel where the literary text is enhanced with visual elements, animation, voice-acting, storytelling techniques and mechanics. There are also small puzzles involving notebooks or drawing lines to open doors.
