Caesar IV

Stationed in a newly established Roman province, your job as governor is to bring the region into the Roman fold by developing a thriving capital city, extensive trade networks, and of course a secure environment through the creation of a powerful military. You'll also need to funnel some of the city's wealth back to Rome.

If you are successful, you'll advance up the empire's political ladder, and continue to take on new assignments in other locations spread throughout the ancient world, such as Sicily, Spain, Britain, Germany, Romania, Greece, Asia Minor, Judea, and Egypt. As the city grows from a simple village to a bustling cosmopolitan city, so too do your challenges and responsibilities increase. Your ultimate goal is to rise among the political ranks of the empire and become Caesar yourself.

Caesar IV is the long-awaited sequel to Caesar III. In this historic city-building game, you govern a province of the Roman Empire and are given the task of building its capital city. If you are successful, you move off to another province, with the final goal of becoming Caesar.

The main focus of the game is in planning and building your city while keeping your citizens happy and safe. Rome expects you to turn a profit and send regular shipments of goods back. And in the meantime, you have to defend your city against plundering barbarians.

The online part of the game is divided into two sides: in Caesar's Challenge you compete against other players to become the best governor of the season; in the Empire mode, you can build up and expand your own province by completing and uploading scenarios.
