John Romero's Daikatana

Sixteen levels of deadly thrills await you in your hunt for the Daikatana. So what exactly is it? A man? A place? An alien artifact? Many believe that Daikatana is all that stands between good and evil. Others will tell you that it's an ancient sword and that is capable of transcending time to fight a host of enemies from across the ages. An evil overlord by the name of Kage Mishima wants the Daikatana more than anything in life, for he's certain it will bring him everlasting power and life. All that stands in his way is Hiro Miyamoto, a distant relative of the man who created the Daikatana sword. While attempting to rescue an innocent girl Mishima holds captive, Hiro becomes involved in the quest for the Daikatana and is the only thing standing in Mishima's way. Helping Hiro out in his quest is Superfly Johnson, a sometimes cartoonish man with the heart of a warrior. Daikatana is a first-person action game with strong RPG elements running through it.

Designed by the legendary John Romero, Daikatana is a first person perspective action, which takes the 3D shoot'em up genre into a new dimension. Players assume the role of Hiro, traveling through time with his two sidekicks, the beautiful, yet lethal Mikko and the powerful mercenary Superfly Johnson. The player must lead this team, interacting with them to guide them through perilous worlds, exploring vast levels that are filled with an array of intelligent enemies. In their quest to save history, players will journey through four different time periods, traveling from mythical Greece to a post apocalyptic San Francisco 500 years in the future. Battling over 60 different monstrous enemies with more than 30 different weapon types, breaching obstacles and unearthing secret locations.
