FireFly Studios' Stronghold 3 is a real-time strategy game which mixes up fighting, trading and constructing gameplay. Set in medieval times, the game evolves around castle sieges. In the castle, the player needs to take care of two things: building the castle out of setpieces, e.g. walls and defense measures, and keeping the people fed and happy. The main challenge is to keep a balance between the two: a neglected castle brings no protection against enemies and a non-working settlement brings no taxes. Constructing something needs resources and functioning production cycles.

The game features two campaigns: a trading oriented one in which the player helps Lady Catherine with rebuilding her abbey and a fighting oriented one in which the attacks of the former dictator, the Wolf, have to be driven back. Additionally there are a free building mode and historical sieges.
