Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX is a 3rd and final installment of Taiko no Tatsujin game on PlayStation Portable. The game introduces features from other Taiko no Tatsujin games that were not included with the previous Portable titles. Also included is the story mode.

While most of the core gameplay mechanics were the same as previous Taiko no Tatsujin games on PlayStation Portable, It introduces the random and S-random modifier, as well as modifier stacking. However, bell note was removed from this release.

The main story mode is the Nationwide Omikoshi battle mode, where you plays as Don to defeats dojos across Japan. The gameplay in the story mode is similar to the boss battles in Taiko no Tatsujin games on Nintendo DS.
