The sixth installment of the Fatal Fury series, Real Bout Special revamps the original Real Bout Fatal Fury by changing the "Oversway" system into a "two line" fighting system similar to earlier Fatal Fury games (making use of a dedicated "line change" button), replacing ring outs with breakable walls and retooling recovery rolling. Along with an updated sprite style and new music for most characters, the game adds four characters from Fatal Fury Special, including Tung Fu Rue, Cheng Sinzan, Laurence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser. Krauser now serves as the game's final boss, with series antagonist Geese Howard as a secret boss.
