The two protagonists from this game are Julio Sven and Caro Orange, who live in Minakuru Town. Within their world, the stories of each of the Tales games exist as legends of events which had occurred in the world's past, and both Julio and Caro know them well.

One day when Julio reads one of the legends, he discovers that it ends with the destruction of the world, which is strange because every other legend has a happy end. On the following day, a time machine called "Dream", invented by their friend Dr. Brown, is stolen by two thieves called Ponnie and Clyte.

After that, another time machine appears and Dr. White emerges, stating that he is Dr. Brown from 100 days in the future. With the new time machine, Julio, Caro, and some of the Tales heroes travel together through the past to stop the thieves from causing problems throughout the history of their various time periods.
