Sayonara UmiharaKawase Plus

Yumi's Odd Oddysey (Sayonara Umihara Kawase) is the third game in the Umihara Kawase series, and the first true sequel since 1997's Umihara Kawase: Shun. Like the previous games, it is a physics-based action platform game starring the young girl Kawase. Kawase's running and jumping abilities are meager, but she has a potent and versatile weapon in her arsenal: a fishing line! This highly-elastic tool can be shot in any of eight directions, and will hook onto most surfaces allowing Kawase to swing around between platforms at breakneck speed. Additionally, it can also be used to stun and capture enemies -- naturally, since most of them are delicious seafood.

Several new features make their debut in this installment. The most obvious is that the game is now presented with full 3D graphics. There are also now several different characters to play as, each with a different special ability; Kawase can pause in mid-air to line up shots, while Emiko can place a waypoint partway through a stage.

The structure has also changed slightly: while each relatively-small stage still has one or more exits leading to other stages, it is now possible to freely choose any unlocked stage, though the classic straight-through game mode is also available. There are also collectible rucksacks hidden throughout the game that will unlock extra costumes and music when safely collected.

In November 2018, publisher Strictly Limited Games released Sayonara UmiharaKawase++ for the Vita. This version, denoted by the extra "+", features even more extra content.
