Colony Wars III is the last in a series a space flight combat simulators that have combined intense difficulty with advanced customization of your ship. This third installment dials down the difficulty a bit to make it more accessible, while still providing a challenging and unique experience that can differ for each player based on their customizations.

The story centers around Valdemar, a man who has been experiencing strange dreams regarding the Red Sun, a ship that he believes to be connected to a dangerous alien race. When visited in these dreams by a man named The General, Valdemar decides to do something about these dreams and address the potential threat to the galaxy.
