Langrisser Tri-Swords was a browser-based, free-to-play game developed for the Japanese market by Gamania Digital Entertainment under license from Extreme.
Although an MMORPG, it incorporated elements of the established Langrisser universe including class changing and sub-units.
The game had two modes of combat: Tactical Battles and Quest Battles. In a tactical battle, commanders and their sub-units fought in a large-scale war similar to the Langrisser III battle engine. The Tactical Battle mode was similar to Shining Force series, where only commanders could engage in combat. The Tactical Battle mode took place on an isometric map.
Character artwork was done by a team of 10 illustrators. The characters changed costumes during certain seasons and special events. Director Seichi Umemoto had planned to add more recruitable characters from the Langrisser universe during the course of the game's operation, but few ever appeared.
The game was designed to be closer to the original Langrisser universe than Langrisser Schwarz.
It went offline on December 27, 2012.
