Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions

Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions is a side-scrolling platform game based on the animated television series Star Wars Rebels which is set five years before the original movie trilogy. Like the series the game is centered around the crew of the spaceship Ghost with the player initially taking control of Ezra with the option of unlocking more playable characters. Most missions involve saving civilians while battling any stormtroopers and other enemies that stand in the way. To do so Ezra is equipped with a blaster for taking out enemies from a distance and a lightsaber for close combat attacks. Additionally there will be air strikes from TIE fighters that the player has to avoid being hit by. In some missions the player gets the chance to control an AT-MP walker.

After a completed mission the game returns to the rebels' haven where it is possible to interact with the different characters from the crew. The haven can be upgraded by constructing various buildings which can then be modified in various ways. Saved citizens also go to the haven and the more shelters that are built, the more citizens can be saved. To construct buildings the player needs hope which is the game's currency and can be collected on the levels but also earned for completing missions. Missions are given by saved citizens and involve completing a certain task (for example defeating a number of enemies) within a time limit.

The game uses a free-to-play model where the first four levels can be played without paying. The rest of the 31 levels can be bought in a single DLC pack along with two additional characters: Jedi Kanan and Explosive Sabine. It is also possible to buy the content in smaller packs with one character and fifteen levels in each. Characters can also be acquired separately and there are four in total. Other buyable content include hope multipliers and various ability unlocks.

The game was shut down in July 2016.
