Intrude is a simple first-person shooter, similar to Wolfenstein 3D and other early entries in the genre. As you infiltrate an abandoned underground dungeon the game takes you through fifteen levels, with the last one being a boss level. Increasingly heavily armed enemies face you as you progress. Each level has a data core hidden, requiring you to collect them all in order to fully understand what you are up against.

Starting with a knife and pistol you will later acquire a shotgun, chaingun and rocket launcher. The rocket launcher can also be used to break certain cracked walls in order to reveal secrets. Health is replenished by picking up small, medium or large health kits. Armor pickups can also be found for some extra durability. Dying will send you back to the beginning of the stage.
