Simgirls is a free dating sim (dating simulation game) started in early 2002. It is developed by an independent game artist called SimMan as a tribute to the manga series DNA2 written by Masakazu Katsura from Japan. It is a free game with no commercial purpose.

The beta version was first launched on newgrounds.com as Sim Girl, and it was later renamed to Simgirls when more playable female characters were added. The game development was once paused for over four years due to personal issues of SimMan. The full version was finally completed and published as a new submission to newgrounds.com in April 2012. As of today Simgirls is the most viewed submission in the history of newgrounds.com with about 50 million views on that website alone. Different versions of Simgirls (or Sim Girl) from version 1.0 to the latest can be found on over 1000 websites in over 10 different languages around the World.

In 2012, SimMan started a new company Blackspears, and it is currently working on new projects such as Lovemore, a free comics series (the prequel to Lovemore) College and a social site the Freedom Wall.
