Space Chimps is a game based on an animated-movie of the same name. A wayward space probe has been sucked into a wormhole. In order to retrieve the probe, scientists decide to send three chimpanzees to explore the wormhole and get the probe back. Ham III, Luna, and Titan must survive the evil inhabitants of the planet and find a way to defeat the evil leader.

The graphics are 3D but the platforming and combat takes place on a 2D plane. Players control Ham III who has the ability to call-in Luna, Titan, or other friends for special attacks. Ham attacks consists of jumping on enemies or using a projectile weapon. Interspersed between levels are 3D flying missions where Ham must pilot his ship through an asteroid field. Between levels, Ham can access the store and purchase new abilities, weapons, and extra content.
