Funaki Masakatsu Hybrid Wrestler: Tougi Denshou is a wrestling game from Technos Japan, the developers of Double Dragon and Kunio-kun brawler series. The game is based on Pancrase, a Japanese mixed martial arts circuit founded in 1993 that heavily features professional wrestling. Pancrease's co-founder, Masakatsu Funaki, lends his name to the game and appears in it along with a number of fictitious wrestlers based loosely on real-life counterparts.
The game is distinctive for a few of its more unusual features. It has running play-by-play commentary at the bottom of the screen, similar to Tecmo World Wrestling for the NES, and features numerous special rings that have their own rules. For instance, one puts the ring high in the air and repeated slams will open a hole in the canvas that a wrestler can be dropped into to instantly end the bout.
