Outrun 2 is an arcade game by Sega that was later ported to the Xbox. Keeping true to the simple style of its 2-D predecessor, Outrun 2 has players zooming through scenic landscapes in a high-powered sports car, attempting to hit checkpoints and beat various rival racers to the beach at the end without running out of time. Several other modes are included to test the player's speed and skill.

Many updates were done for Outrun 2 in arcades, including Outrun 2 SP, which featured a special arcade cabinet with two steering wheels and two sets of gas and brake pedals, allowing two players to cooperatively drive their vehicle of choice, with one driver taking the place of the other when a detrimental crash occurs.
