Vanark

Evil alien forces threaten Mars with their deadly "Zero Field". Its now up to you to join the forces of the Vanark troopers and save the day before its too late. Prepare for intense 3D-shooter action in VANARK. As a pilot for Team Vanark, your mission is to save colonized inhabitants on Mars from a shadowy organization bent on destroying not only the planet, but the universe as well.

Vanark is a 3D action game which plays mostly as a rail-shooter. You fly aboard your state-of-the-art Vanark fighter in a fixed path on several missions controlling your guns and missiles and trying to defeat all the waves of enemy ships and creatures that try to come at you. Every now and then you also get to play free-flight stages in deep space where you have full control of your ship, turning the game into a more traditional 3rd-person space sim.

Choose a co-pilot based on their special abilities, ranging from enemy detection to combat experience to route detection. Customize your ship with special weapons that can hone in on your enemy with deadly precision or destroy them with a blast of rapid fire. Then get ready to engage in battles in a myriad of locations, each with their own dangers: dive underwater to avoid a barrage of fire only to be faced with giant mechanical sharks, or maneuver through the center of the planet avoiding streams of molten lava. At the end of each level you'll face off against menacing alien leaders such as a giant, electrified, pulsing brain.

Additionally, between each stage you get to roam freely aboard your carrier ship using 3D characters over pre-rendered backgrounds. In these sequences you'll get to chat with fellow pilots and move the plot along, which includes triggering cut-scenes as well solving mini-games such as disarming a saboteur's bomb and other similar activities. There are seven levels to master and a Third-Person mode that takes place between each level. In Third-Person mode you roam the space station and encounter strange creatures, each with information vital to the plot. Mars attacks but you take the offensive in VANARK.
