It is a dark and disastrous time for the good people of the peaceful kingdom of Baljing. Zabbaong, a vicious and jealous warlock, has unleashed his evil hordes upon the land, ransacking and pillaging everything in their path. The country is in ruins and the people despair. The countries protector, the Dragon Spirit, has summoned a powerful warrior to defeat Zabbaong's minions.

Take control of the warrior as he battles through six stages filled with robots, giant centipedes, sea serpents, and other dangerous enemies. Engage the enemy as a valiant gladiator with an onslaught of muscle and steel, or do battle in the air, as you become a fierce and formidable dragon. You'll encounter everything from robots and giant centipedes to monstrous sea serpents, as you guide this courageous warrior and his dragon alter ego through the six stages of Zabbaong's sinister henchmen and make your way to the final encounter with the wicked sorceror himself! All the good people of Baljing are counting on you! Destroy the evil sorcerer and bring peace to the land in Dragon Fighter.

In Dragon Fighter the protagonist is a fighter who can turn into a dragon. In this side-scrolling action game the hero can walk, jump, and slash with his sword. He can also charge his sword to fire a magical projectile. The real power-up, however, is that he can transform into a flying dragon. When this happens, the game turns into a shmup-style game in which the scrolling moves at a constant rate and the dragon can shoot fireballs in a spread formation. Transforming into a dragon is restricted by a power meter.
