Penguin's Journey

Penguin's Journey is an arcade puzzle game where the player must build bridges for migrating penguins.

The penguins march slowly from the top of the screen to the bottom. The bridge is built of pieces made of one or more hexagonal shapes that must be placed on a grid before the penguins reach the water margin. Otherwise, they fall in the water and must be rescued. Apparently, these penguins can't swim.

The pieces appear in three slots at the right side of the screen. They can be swapped or thrown at the recycling garbage pail at the bottom. Other slots at the top-left hold the power-ups: a trowel that seals holes in the bridge, a hammer that breaks useless pieces, a camera with a flash that stops temporally the penguins movement and a fan that pushes all penguins backwards. Life preservers at the top-right are used automatically when a penguin hits the water.

Randomly, a bonus appears on the grid. It can be collected by placing a piece over it. A frog on a lily pad jumps on the bridge making some of the penguins fall overboard. It can be stopped by clicking on it before it jumps. Some of the pieces have heaps of fish on them. Placing them on the grid makes any passing penguin stop to gobble up the food.

Mini-games between the stages give upgrades to the power-ups when successfully completed. These include a tile-matching one with life preservers, and a puzzle where the player has to find the correct clicking order to make all the penguins must stand up.
