Each player account may create two avatars to play in the game. Their avatar will either belong to the Earth Federation Forces or the Principality of Zeon. Each faction controls four cities in specific areas on the map, and have faction specific vehicles and mobile suits they can develop there. The Earth Federation controls Sydney, Canberra, Southern Cross and Perth while Zeon controls Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Darwin.

Players perform activities to raise their skills and gather resources in order to create mobile suits they can pilot. Players can store up to seven mobile suits in their hangar. Once they have a mobile suit players can battle other players. There are two neutral cities, Richmond and Newman, that players could battle over, or they could raid into enemy territory. In space each faction also has a faction-specific space station and there is an asteroid field called Helenes that players could battle or attempt to mine resources in.
