Get ready to enter the magical kingdom of the Eight Islands that make up the mystical and deadly world of Jarrah. Be prepared to take on the persona of David and his companions as they fight the evil and despotic sorcerer Silver who, with the heavy hand of his murderous son Fuge eager to carry out his every wish, rules the land with demonic zeal. To complete the dismal picture is Silver's daughter, Glass, an accomplished witch who is definitely Fuge's twisted sister.
Your journey begins in the peaceful forest community of Verdante as the despicable Fuge rounds up the village women and carts them off to Silver's blood isle of Metalon. Behind this insidious invasion is the evil and almighty god, Apocalypse, who demands payment for his demonic pact that allows Silver free reign to expand his heinous rule. As the story opens, David's beloved wife Jennifer is one of those kidnapped by the ugly Fuge.
With only rudimentary skills as magician and warrior, the young knight David embarks on a challenging quest that will take him to the various lands emanating from the tranquil hub city of Haven in this "wheel-like" world. At the beginning, he'll have help from his grandfather who has raised him since his father was killed at the hands of Silver. As he progresses, he'll discover companions willing to help him, each with unique attributes and abilities, as well as magical spells, weapons and potions required for survival.
Silver puts the player in charge of directly controlling any one of three possible party members throughout the game. The other two characters will follow the primary hero and act accordingly to the situation at hand. Changeover from character to character is as simple as 1, 2, 3 -- literally, as a press of those number keys shifts control to the primary hero of choice. The option to control all three simultaneously is also available. Control in the game is wielded by a simple point-and-click interface with supporting shortcut keys.
Physical combat in Silver is handled through mouse movement used in conjunction with key presses (in most instances the Control or Shift keys). Options for automatic firing of magic and ranged weapons are also offered as well as a healthy number of gameplay options, including a pause function during heavy action. Inventory, item management (food, weapons, potions, keys, etc.) and special moves are all accessed via a "pie" menu that allows continuous or paused gameplay when activated -- user's choice. Hundreds of locations, exquisite artwork, an easy to master interface, vivid special effects, solid storyline and more beckon to the fantasy-world gamer in Silver.
