Shinsetsu Samurai Spirits: Bushidō Retsuden is a 1997 role-playing game spin-off of SNK’s Samurai Shodown series, released on Neo Geo CD, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. Instead of one-on-one battles, it plays like a traditional JRPG with towns, dungeons, and turn-based combat where players can even input fighting-game style commands for special moves. The story adapts and expands on the plots of Samurai Shodown I and II, following heroes like Haohmaru, Nakoruru, and Ukyo as they battle supernatural threats in Edo-period Japan.
