We make a great team-

I think we should see other people!

Hey hey, I sure do love them video games. I mostly play platformers, RPGs, and action/adventure games, but I also enjoy some puzzle games c: My top favorite game series include Klonoa, Pokémon, Paper Mario, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Persona, Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Sonic, Bomberman, Sly Cooper, Banjo-Kazooie, and Psychonauts; there's also various indie games like Dust, Undertale, Shovel Knight, Yooka-Laylee, and Cuphead that I also love~

The way I rate games, at the simplest level, is based on how much I enjoyed them. Basically, the more time I spend on a game that I just don't enjoy, the more points are taken off the score. This is especially true if a game starts feeling like a chore to play. I really only give 10/10's to a select few of my top favorite games, which are obviously hard to find things about them that I didn't enjoy lol

My CURRENTLY PLAYING section is used for games that I am either actively playing, plan to beat relatively soon, or am currently trying to 100%. My CONTINUOUSLY PLAYING section is both used for mobile games and games that can't technically be beaten (like Miitomo and Rocket League), but also Collection games, where I put the individual games from that Collection in my list's Completed section, with "Played on [Collection's name here] (System it's on)" in the Notes of that game. My COMPLETED section is used for games that I have beaten, or I've played enough or unlocked enough that feel I've gotten a good experience with them (especially in the cases of Mario Kart or Animal Crossing). My ON-HOLD section is used for games that I'm not actively playing, but I still want to go back and beat at some point in time, but I'm not sure when. My DROPPED section is used for games that I've played but most likely will never try to beat. And of course my PLAN TO PLAY section is used for games that I want to buy in the future or currently own but haven't started yet.

PERSONAL FAVORITE GAMING MOMENTS

  • Discovering 02 in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

This list isn't in any specific order, but this one easily comes out on top, not only because Kirby 64 was my first Kirby game and one of my favorite games on my favorite system, but it also spawned my obsession with final bosses. In Kirby 64, there are random "?" cards you can collect from the minigame at the end of every level; normally they're just basic enemies, but they can also be bosses. So, after beating Miracle Matter at the end of Ripple Star, I naturally assumed that was the final boss, but one day when I got one of the random cards, it was of "02", which I'd obviously never seen in the game before, and it totally confused my brother and I. We thought maybe it was some secret boss since it had a similar color scheme as Miracle Matter, and having never played Kirby's Dreamland 3 at the time, we had no idea it was a reincarnated Zero. I became fascinated with 02 and was determined to find out what his deal was. I had a feeling it had something to do with Ripple Star's fairy queen since she makes an evil expression in the last cutscene, and I even made up theories about him, like since his name looked like the scientific formula for oxygen (not knowing that it was a zero instead of an O), I thought he absorbed oxygen from planets or something like that LOL. Anyway, I had no idea that getting all the Crystal Shards was the secret to unlocking the Dark Star and fighting 02, until my friend John did it on his game and told me all about it. Back then I absolutely sucked at finding the Crystal Shards, and even after practicing for forever, there was only one left that I just could NOT get, so I had to get John to get the last one for me (but don't worry, I eventually 100%'d it by myself haha). So when I finally got to fight 02, I was instantly mesmerized by the atmospheric background music, the circulating battlefield, and the boss's full appearance. His infamous bleeding eye and strange vine-like weak point were also huge factors in my obsession with him. I had such a feeling of accomplishment when I finally uncovered the secret of 02 after all that time, and to this day he still remains my favorite final boss and boss overall in video games in terms of discovery, sense of wonder, and flawless presentation.

  • Beating Tubular in Super Mario World on GBA

I had played Super Mario World very briefly a few times when hotel rooms used to have built-in game systems, but it wasn't until I got it on Gameboy Advance that I completely fell in love with it. My friend John had originally played it on SNES, but he also got it on GBA, and we often played it together. Most of the game was pretty easy for me, at least until the second level of the Special world, Tubular. This level is mostly groundless, so you have to float through it using only P-Balloons, while enemies try to hit you on the way. No matter how many times I tried to beat it, I couldn't even get past the halfway point. I finally just gave up and had John beat it for me, because it was just way too frustrating. It was okay though because he couldn't get to the secret exit for Cheese Bridge, so I did that for him in exchange haha. Eventually I did beat Tubular on my own when I replayed both the GBA and SNES versions, but not until much later lol.

  • The Hype for Sonic Heroes

The time when my friends and I got into the 3D Sonic games was one of the most memorable times in my gaming life; it was literally all we could think about and all we would play was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle & Sonic Adventure DX for Gamecube. When Sonic X was just starting to air on the Fox Box, my friend John got a sample DVD in the mail with advertisements for a bunch of current and future Fox Box shows, including Sonic X. But at the end of the show's ad, a second video started playing, and the intro of a Crush 40 song we've never heard before started playing, before Sonic was shown running through a Green Hill Zone-looking area. Our immediate reactions were mostly "WHAT IS THIS?!?!" especially when a new E-Series robot (Omega) showed up as we already loved Gamma, and when Team Chaotix came on the screen as we didn't even know they were from the older 32X game. The most hype part of it though was when Neo Metal Sonic was veiled in darkness in a thunderstorm; that's when we really lost our minds LOL. We must've watched that trailer at least 100 times waiting for any future updates on the game; it was just so exciting knowing a new Sonic game was on the horizon. Then, when Mario Kart: Double Dash came out, my friend Greg got the Bonus Disc edition, and on it was a demo of Sonic Heroes with two playable levels. My brother and I were freaking out so we had him over our house that night and played both stages of the demo multiple times; it just felt so new and refreshing, and I was shocked at how seamless the character switching mechanic was. Eventually when the game was finally released in January 2004, it met all our expectations and even exceeded them in many aspects. That whole time waiting for the game was honestly the most hype I've ever been for a game in my life, and it still remains one of my top favorite Sonic games ever.

  • Discovering Deoxys in Pokémon Ruby Version

Sometime in early summer 2004, I believe it was, as we were all caught up in the hype of Ruby & Sapphire versions, rumors came up of a Legendary after Jirachi that nobody knew how to get, or even what it looked like. Everyone was wondering when or if Nintendo would officially reveal it, and of course, we were super impatient to see it. One day, our friend Jeremiah came into school with his Action Replay and said it had a code that let you get a Pokémon called Deoxys through a risky multiplication glitch, where you had to grab a Pokémon in your box and move it to the left or right, which overwrote one slot with a Deoxys, but erased the previous slot. Obviously at first we didn't believe him, but he showed us his game and there it was, just like he said. Just from the sprite, I thought Deoxys was super weird; it looked like a really ugly red monkey with a creepy enlarged hand and Bulbasaur's vine whips for arms LOL. And yet, I still wanted it really badly, so Jeremiah let me use his Action Replay to get as many as I wanted, even though all their OT's defaulted to "AAAAAAAA". The annoying thing was, I wasn't being the most careful with it and I kinda screwed up the glitch, so one of the Deoxys overwrote the first Shiny I ever caught on my own, which was a shiny Exploud. That part really sucked, but I was still super excited to finally have the mysterious Deoxys in my collection. As time passed, as more information and artwork was revealed for it, eventually getting trading cards and its own movie which is one of my favorites, Deoxys really grew on me and actually became one of my top favorite Pokémon, as well as my favorite Pokémon from Gen 3.

  • Playing Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age in Summer 2017

In early 2017, my friend John and I were playing Final Fantasy VI Advance, and I had planned on playing FFXII next on my list of main series FF games to beat. John's two favorite FF games were VI and XII, and he had been raving about XII for literally 10 years at that point, so I was super excited to get to playing it. Then when Square announced The Zodiac Age coming out literally that year, it was one of the most hype things ever knowing that soon we'd be able to play an HD version of FFXII, not to mention with the Zodiac Job System that the US never got. We spent days planning our ideal teams with their jobs and summon layouts. When it finally came out, John and I had two TVs going with the game on each of our PS4's at the same time, and played the majority of the game together that way (along with my brother Chris sometimes swapping in to play his file). That whole playthrough of FFXII was honestly one of the best times I've ever had playing a new game, and made me so happy I waited for the HD version rather than playing the original.

  • Fighting Ultra Necrozma in Pokémon Ultra Moon

Even though the Pokémon Company is annoyingly obsessed with revealing almost every major detail about new Pokémon games these days, I purposely stopped watching trailers and looking at leaks around the time Ultra Sun & Moon was being promoted, knowing that it would be the last main series games for awhile. When the box arts for the games were revealed, pretty much everyone noticed the bright glow and eyes at the edges of the boxes coming together to signify something else new, supposedly a third new form of Necrozma. I do remember briefly seeing a thumbnail of only Ultra Necrozma's head on a Twitter video, but I quickly scrolled past it knowing it was a spoiler. Luckily, I didn't see the full design so all I had in mind when expecting a third form was his head from that specific angle. When Ultra Moon began reaching its climax while I was playing with my friend John, I knew Necrozma's third form was soon to be revealed, and my hype rose as we climbed the stairs of the Megalo Tower. I saw Dawn Wings Necrozma lying on the top of the tower and beginning to transform, and when he slowly revealed his new features as Ultra Necrozma, I was completely in awe at his design, not expecting him to be a towering dragon of light, which reminded me of classic bosses in traditional fantasy RPGs (and being coincidentally similar to a concept that I previously had for a legendary Fakemon). What made it even more hype was that the battle was actually challenging, whereas the game up until that point felt much easier compared to base Sun & Moon. The theme for the fight was also probably the best song in the entirety of Gen 7 in my opinion, reminding me of the grandeur and urgency of Necron's battle theme from FFIX; all these factors created a very vivid experience in my memory.
