The slow-as-molasses text speed kinda made me not like this game as much as I could have. You can speed up the text speed but it doesn't help that much. I don't consider myself to be a fast reader either....
One of the few games I've rage quit. Stage 13 "The bridge" was already difficult enough with zero checkpoints but stage 25 revolving around babysitting your allies who die easily broke me. I couldn't take it anymore lol.
This is literally like 5 minutes long. I had no idea, lol. Still pretty cute though and it's free.
It started off so strong.... The gameplay is alright but the plot and dialogue weren't that great. The pacing is also really weird.
30 minutes into second subway world and Eileen was already fucked up beyond recognition. Probably shouldn't have left her alone with two ghosts LMAO.

This is the version of the game I grew up with. It is different from the console version (the one that was rereleased). This is a point and click that focuses on mini games.
This game has a nasty habit of chaining boss fights. I'm not a fan. The difficulty level is kind of strange. I played the game on normal mode and the entire game felt too easy but then the final boss felt way too hard (I struggled with the boss in the "good" route, didn't have a problem with him on "bad" route, might just be bad luck). Also doesn't help that the first phase of the final boss is too long because of all the talking. I think the "good" ending of this game is supposed to be the canon end but I definitely preferred the "bad" ending, I recommend the "bad" route if you like the more depressive atmosphere that mainline SMT games normally have. The ending was a little edgy, but it was a nice break from the persona-like feeling the game has (expect lots of "power of friendship" stuff). Not my favorite SMT game but I liked it.

I liked this game but the main route was too long. There's also not much romance and the answers to get into each individual boy's route are sometimes cryptic.

I didn't like the new synth system. This is my fourth atelier game and the first one where I won't be playing NG+.
All of the levels kind of look the same and there is no real reward system so I kind of got bored after 305 levels. There's LOTS of levels in this game.

This was my first tales game. The gameplay was alright. Hoping the other tales games' gameplay is better. OST was great and when Ion read the score for 2020 I got creeped out.
Trash game. Dialogue sucks mega dick.
Started getting bored at around level 11. Struggled with fps in certain areas. The in-game music player was pretty fucked up.
If another patch isn't done for the Western release just emulate on PC if you don't care about a portable version tbh. Maniax Chronicle has an english translation.
I'm so so disappointed in this release. If you bought the Japanese version - right out of the box it's a piece of junk. The fps and lag are so fucking terrible that you're gonna want to patch it. I'm saying this as someone who normally doesn't give a shit about fps. The base Japanese version has only random roll inheritance for demons and there's a MASSIVE delay in displaying demon status screens compared to the ps2 version which makes it take forever. The patch allows pick-and-choose inheritance but the patch doesn't completely fix the shitty fps. I'm thinking the bad fps might have something to do with the fog effects? Idk. Calling this a remaster is kind of insulting - most of what they did was upgrade the textures. More QOL improvements could have been nice. For instance - Raidou/Dante are fucking useless against Lucy on hard mode even with pierce. Their health/power is fucking GARBAGE. The voice acting was ok until I remembered almost all of the characters in this game are fucking despicable and I don't want to read/hear their dialogue. The half-assed DLC is another negative. Fucking lazy. Here's hoping there's another patch before it gets released in the west cause this is M-E-S-S-Y.
The plot was kinda a clusterfuck. They tried to incorporate way too many of the books at once. Found out that Tomm Hulett wrote the game and now it all makes sense.
Ran into a bug that caused me to start the game over from the beginning. FeMC also seems to be the canon MC. I'd recommend going with her the first time thru.
I think my dogs are dead. I haven't checked up on them in 10 years. RIP Fatty.
