Metroid Prime
Samus returns in a new mission to unravel the mystery behind the ruined walls scattered across Tallon IV. In Metroid Prime, you'll play the role of this bounty hunter and view the world through her visor, which displays information ranging from current energy levels to ammunition. Equipped with a Power Beam and Gravity Suit, you must shoot locked switches, solve puzzles, and eliminate enemies. It's up to you to explore the world and recover more power-ups and weapons, which gradually open more gameplay areas.

Well I didn't play this when it first came out, so I'm completely at odds with the "revelations" upon release sort of reaction. It does a lot of the supposedly 'impossible' remarkably well, but gets boring very, very often (especially towards the end). Bosses are a bore-fest. Good thing they later improved almost everything in Prime 2.
samus does the pew pew in 3D!
I was probably ten years old when i went to a videogame store and picked this one up from the shelve, at the time i had no knowledge about the game or the series but i remember looking at the cover and the images on the back and thinking to myself, "This might be cool". Little did i knew that this game would have such an impact on me, as one of the first fps's i've ever played it made me love the genre, the story and world that retro studios created is simply phenomenal.

This game will always be special to me. I have a lot of "favorite games of all time", but this always comes out on top for me. It's simply a masterpiece.
