Videogames are a huge passion of mine. I've been into videogames ever since my parents got us an NES for Christmas. I enjoy many different genres of videogames, and my current mood usually reflects the games I'm playing. I'm always looking for new friends to game with so don't hesitate to add my gamertags to your friends list!
MyVideoGameList.com was originally built by myself and morgan as a place to track the videogames we were playing or had finished. It's very similar to MyAnimeList which was built to meet needs that the original MyAnimeList.net website was not meeting. We intended for MyVideoGameList.com to be used by a few close friends however it seems other gamers have discovered us and started using it as well! Since then we've done a small amount of promotion and advertising, but we still consider ourselves to be a small, close-knit community. Since the spring of 2011 we have grown into a community of 25,000+ users. I personally continue to work on and develop the site as much as I can when time permits. I also continue to learn new things about web development and community management on a daily basis. We hope to continue to build and improve upon what MyVideoGameList already offers.

And don't take my previous comment the wrong way. I am not hating, I am just providing some constructive criticism, and some suggestions, as I actually want this site to be better.
Okay some people might see this on my profile because of the annoying "recent user updates" (that can't be disabled), but I wanted to make sure you see this, so I'll post it here as well.
This site has a lot of potential, but lots of things wrong with it.
Some things are great, but I'll ignore those here, I'll say the bad things and why I won't be using this site (for now): -Forums don't seem to work at all at the moment. I wanted to suggest some improvements, but apparently for 2 weeks the forums are disabled already. (that's also why I'm posting here) -I need privacy options. I should be able to have a private profile if I want to. Especially I don't want every action of me popping up in the feed (Recent user updates). -Apparently there is also no progress anymore for completed games. But there is a difference, between a "beaten game" and a "100 percent completed game". That is a huge difference. There needs to be such an option. (replaying a game is not the same thing) -Then this might be harder to change technically, but the way of adding games is very inefficient. Having to search up every game, takes a lot of time. Adding some lists to chose from and instantly adding games (like just ticking off games to add), later to be filling in the details, would be nice.
This is what I can think of at the moment. I see jimmyb is working on a new site design, but the problem with privacy, game adding, and completed games seems to be intact. I understand he is just one guy, and it's quite a lot of work, so take these are just suggestions.
For now I won't be using the site, privacy is most importation, and I can't use the site without it, also the way it set up, adding several 100s of games, would be very time consuming. And seeing as this site is not entirely suited to my needs, I won't be doing that.
Hopefully this site will improve though. Maybe I check back some times still and see how things changed and if it improves.
I have a question. Can we friend other gamers here too?
I really like this website and I hope it grows into something quite big in the future.
Just wanted to say, I think this site is a great idea. It's a shame it's not being used as often as it should; if more people got on here, we could fill out the database and have something truly awesome. For my part, at least, I'll be using it regularly and linking people to my list when they ask about my favorite games. I really hope this can take off more.
Can you please remove the unneccesary requirements to add games to lists? I CANNOT use the site this way, I have NO IDEA when I finished all 90 games I completed. There is no such requirement in MAL and it should be the same way here too, in this state of the site the usability of the site drops at least 75% OR EVEN MORE! I was so shocked that site asked me to fill in "replay value", "start&finish date" (and rating for dropped games) that I couldn't believe it because I was so eager to start making a list and it just killed something in me... PLEASE!!! FIX THIS ASAP.
I just wanted to thank you for the continual efforts you put into the site ;)
Awesome site dude, ever since I joined My Anime List, I was waiting on for something like that for games :D One minor suggestion though, since I plan on adding games I've beaten long ago (some more than 10 years), do you think you can make the date thing optional, like I don't have to input it to add a game as completed (or else) to my list. It's a great feature for games I'm gonna play from now on, but not so much on games I've already played. Aside from that, everything looks awesome, keep up the good work :)
I know this isn't the proper place to post this, but I can't post on the forums! The word "reply" is there but it isn't clickable, and it's the same with creating new topics. The links are clearly there when I'm not logged in, but they disappear afterwards! So I guess that's one bug report.
Next up: I love the idea of the site. It's awesome! Once you fix up a few basic features I definitely think you should try advertising it a bit.
Suggestions:
The rest is awesome. Keep up the good work!
I'm sorry if I entered Rayman Raving Rabbids: Party Collection twice into the database, it was an accident (I accidentally pressed enter while not in the text field)
The site's great, awesome! I've searched for a site like myanimelist for gaming for more than 3 years and I never found yours. I even used the search term 'my gaming list' .. Google is evil! But now I'm happy :D
Thanks for this ;)
ps: I can't figure out how to post on the fora though, I always get to see this call of duty man
Thanks for fixing the forums and for the replay option! ^-^
I went to add a game to my list that I started playing this year and it seems that the 2012 year has dissapeared it was there, because I've added other games that I've started or finished this year but it didn't have it. The game was While Knight Chronicles.
About the not being able to post in the forums thing. I tried on another computer and it still doesn't work. I've tried in FireFox and IE but still nothing.
Cool. Thankyou for all the information.
The 3DS friend code is working. Thankyou. ^-^
Also 2012 isn't in the date settings yet, it might be a good idea to add that.
How come some game consoles are together? Like the gamboy color and gameboy advance and DS and 3DS? I've got the same game on game boy color as I do on gameboy advance but the game play is a bit different and I can't add them both to my list if their under one category (or is that somehow possible?). I'm not sure if this happens often but I think they should be seperate.
Also, is it possible to add some more genre's? Like action (for ones without the adventure aspect), strategy (for ones that are turn based or is it ok to put them as real-time strategy?) and maybe card game (or would they just be under strategy too?)?
I assume for games that weren't released anywhere but Japan that the release date for Japan is to be used. What if a game was released outside of Japan but not in North America? What date should be used? For instance I want to add a game that was released in Japan and Europe but not in America. Which date would you prefer? There is also a game I want to add to the database but I can't find the full release date for any country only the year so do I just put the year or not sumbit the game to the database at all? Is it possible for others to submit changes to the information in the database later?
Sorry for all the questions.
Hm, I didn't think of that but I tried it and it doesn't change anything in the forum or the add games page. No, I can't create new threads either.
Cool. That sounds good. I didn't know it had one either till I got one for christmas.
Ah I see. That's good and no problem. I'd like to help out with whatever I can. Glad it's fixed now though.
I'm using FireFox. This is what I'm seeing - http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1982/forumvs.png I assume the box is meant to be under the reply part. Also when adding a game to the database the input boxes are slightly out of line with the text of what they are for.
Hm, alright. I'll try again a bit later. Thankyou.
Cool. That would be good and make it a lot easier to navigate.
Ah I see. Thankyou for that.
Yes, it happened with the 3 games I just removed. They were Sonic Generations DS/3DS, Mario Kart 7 DS/3DS and Super Mario 3DS.
I also just thought of a small suggestion. You have the gamer tags and codes on the profile. Maybe you could add room for the 3DS friend code as well?
Hi, thankyou very much for your reply. I tried what you suggested but I still can't post in the forums. Though it doesn't say I have to log in, it just says REPLY but I don't see anywhere to click or type to reply or make a new topic.
Alright, thankyou. I will start adding some games to the database when I get some time.
hm, alright, I'll try thankyou. Also I have a question about completed games. Do we have to complete something in all the information? I filled in everything except replay value because I wasn't sure but it said the entry wasn't added because I didn't enter that.
Thankyou. Could I suggest a link somehwere to our wishlist and favorites so we can easily navigate to them?
I was trying to remove 3 of them but I just tried again and it worked this time. Though everytime before that when I tried it didn't do anything. It was mostly with Sonic Generations DS/3DS but it's gone now. Also, is there a limit to how many games are viewed on a page in the wishlist? I noticed when I deleted a game that another one appeared so I assume the rest of the games I added before that are there but can't be viewed. Is there a way to split them into seperate pages to view them all or something?
And I just noticed that in the recent updates section when a game is removed it says "Fire-Dragon removed on from their wishlist." I was just wondering but should it be 'one' instead of 'on'?
The remove from wishlist button doesn't work, when I click it, it just refreshes the page but the game is still listed there. I'd report this in the forum but it's still not letting me post anything there.
Sorry I have another question. How can I view my favorites and wish list?
Hi, I just joined but it wont let me post in the forum. It tells me that I need to login to reply to a topic but I am already logged in. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, when adding a game can you only add one release date? If so, what country release date should we add?
I was also wondering why you HAVE to put a start and end date for games on your list? I don't know the dates for most and I don't want to estimate since I don't even know the years for most and I'd like it to be accurate.
But thankyou for making this site. I've been searching for something like this for ages.
heyyyyy i just wanted to ask if u were gonna start recruiting mods anytime soon cause id love to help out =D
